The musculoskeletal system breakdown

Musculo-skeletal disorders(MSDs)

MSDs are conditions that can affect your muscles, bones, and joints.

MSDs are conditions that can affect your muscles, bones, and joints. They include conditions such as:

  • tendinitis
  • carpal tunnel syndrome
  • osteoarthritis
  • rheumatoid arthritis
  • fibromyalgia
  • bone fractures
  • What causes MSDs?

    How do you prevent MSDs?

    How are MSDs treated?
What are the symptoms of MSDs?

Your MSDs can be caused by old age, occupation, activity level, livestyle and family history. Even though it is good to exercise, to much of it can affect your musculo-skeletal system. Meanwhile not staying active and sitting for too long is also bad for your posture.

Your risk of developing MSDs increases with age. But that doesn't mean MSDs are inevitable. If you take care of your body throughout 'adulthood' it may reduce your chances of MSDs. To maintain a healty musculo-skeletal system you would have to stay in a tall posture while sitting and avoid many heavy objects.

Your treatment plan would depend on your specific MSDs and severity of your symptoms. Occasionally, the docter would recommend moderate exercise and and medications such as ibuprofen or acetaminophen. For some serious cases they would recommend medications to reduce inflammation and pain or physical therapy. The therapies would help you manage your pain and discomfort.

Symptoms of MSDs includes recurrent pain, stiff joints, swelling and dull aches. These symptoms can affect major areas including your neck ,shoulders, wrists, back, hips, legs, knees and feet. When MSDs interfere your everyday tasks such as walking or typing you may develop a limited range of motion and have trouble completing your routine activities done.
